What is Florentine gold?

I have a keychain from The Mint casino. It's in a plastic case with an insert that says the keychain is made of 14kt Florentine gold. What does that mean? Gold plate?

I think it means the gold was crafted in Florence Italy but coming from the Mint I doubt it was.
