What is it?? CW Cannon implement holder or just farm equipment?

I found this item on a site where I have found Civil War Confederate items. Being an artillery reenactor my first guess was that it could be part of an implement holder off of a cannon carriage. Comparing it to the carriages on the cannon here in Gettysburg it doesn't match up. Maybe just from farm equipment. The piece moves in a hinge like way.

I think it's a chain link to a peice of farm equipment. Here's some that are similar.

Looks like it maybe a link to a drive chain from a manure spreader.
