What is it? HMMM<

This is speculated to be form WWII. It has japanese writing as well as Standard numerals. It is also believed to have somethingto do possibly with aviation??... It is approx 12 inches long and 1.5 inches in Circum. There are granules in the botton bowl that are held in place with some sort of packing that possibley desolves and releases the granules at some temperature or altitude? Any ideas or comments are truly welcome.. Good luck and lets see who can find out what this is..

It looks like a hydrometer which is used to measure specific gravity or the "proof" or percentage of alchol.

Yep, its a Hydrometer or saccorometer(spelling) as it was called, back in my beer making days!
