Icewing is correct.... from President (brand) suspenders. Their form was patented in 1901, so they were manufactured in the early 1900s. Here's the proof:

Although close inspection of the nail in question indicates a rough edge or two, there is not, in my opinion, evidence to prove definitively that the nail was chewed. The nail could have been damaged while digging artifacts or in some other way. There is enough smooth edge in other areas of the nail to suggest the possible use of clippers although a very close cut. I don't think we can marked this one solved just yet.
