A picture of the whole piece would help but its Roman & there is a debate about whether its a carrying handle for a Roman Helmet or a furniture drawer pull. They are two dolphins kissing.

At the centre back by the neck, for easy of carrying. But most I have seen are a simple rod type loop & not very decorative.

Yes, very rare. I have only found 1 in about 25 years & Dad has never had 1 in 12 years. We have hunted many Roman Sites, it's what we research & target. We have had 1364 Roman Bronze Coins this year alone
