Hello this item is 7 and a 1/2 inches long 3 quarters of an inch wide weighs 1.5 lbs , cleaned rust off any ideas let me know thankyou

If the tip had a loop that's broken off, I'd a say a a hanging weight for some purpose.

i took a dull knive and just scraped the rust off i originally thought it was a piece of junk metal till i cleaned it

I know very little about Viking or medievel artifacts. The European members would be more helpful. It may be old but it would seem to me too thick and heavy for a dagger or spear and no way to attach it to a pole. I can only guess what it is. It doesnt look broken so maybe a coal miners wedge, harvester tooth, clock weight, sounding weight or log splitter as mentioned..

Its better to add additional pics to the same thread. It seems you have 3 threads on the same object! This is confusing and senseless. Its more bemeficial to keep all the opinions on one page. Interesting find.

bigcypress,was just thinking along the same line,blacksmith tool. if the rock/slag jeff posted came
from the same area,as the iron piece,maybe there was a blacksmith shop with a coal burner there

im new to this and i didnt realize i had 3 different threads i wanted to add new pix and i guess thats how it happened sorry for any inconvinence but when u are new to something it takes a bit to figure it out. thank u all for helping me out and giving me ideas of what it might be its just something i found and was interested in finding out what it was cause i have never seen anything like it its not life or death to me just curious

Im still trying to figure how to post properly.

It looks as if it was made for a purpose. It looks like an alloy. Im leaning toward weight of somekind or tooth because there doesnt seem to be any hammer marks on it.
