Any ideas or help would be appreciated. This is two layers of metal with some kind of fixtures for attaching something. Small rivet holes on both ends. Probably half a pound to 1 pound. 6 to 8 inches long by about 4 inches wide. Here's my guess some kind of protective wear or a saddle for an old kids rocking horse.

That 1st pic looks strikingly like the shape of a saddle. However, that would be a VERY uncomfortable ride!! ...Maybe someone made a make-shift saddle for a metal art project??

It does resemble a saddle.You might be correct with rocking horse saddle, minus all the leather.

It is a circa 1900 therapeutic collar pad which was strapped to the horse's neck and the horse collar/hames rode on top of it, thereby eliminating the chaffing that rubbed a horse's neck raw.
