I cant tell how long it is but could it be a letter opener

Shish kabob!

If the blade is narrow and flattened, then my guess is shish kabob skewer. It is a skewer that meat is wrapped around, then grilled. The ones we see in the US are round, however, I have seen traditional ones that look like this, sort of a thin knife like blade, that's not sharpened.

The more I look at it, the more sure I become!
