I think its a button or cufflink but not shur no markings in back, and im wondering what year it is appropriate any suggestions thanks
 

looks like cuff Link.
will take someone else to date it.
My "guess" turn of Century (c 1900)

Being oval shaped is a major clue that it's one side of a cufflink. Also, what's on its back is definitely not a button shank/loop, but it's just right for the connecting "link" of an early-1800s cufflink.
