what is it?

any idea as to what this is or how old? looks like copper patina and enamel. possibly Chinese? TIA!

Looks like a Fu Dog Canister, but I couldn't begin to date it. My grandmother had one, but it was round, she brought back from a trip to China back in the mid 1950's.
