What is the best metal detector in the price range of $350 that has a dd coil

Either one would be a good choice. Both are widely used here on the forum.

I like Garretts, The Ace 350 would be my choice, but only because I am more familiar with the way they operate.

Just remember - you can have the best MD money can buy - if you don't practice with it and read the entire owner's manual you will become very frustrated. Also, if you read the threads here - you will see many members who can find something every place they go and they all use different MD's. The point I am trying to make is regardless of what you purchase - practice and pay attention to what it is telling ya. Anyway, that is just my 2 cents and that won't get you anything at WalMart!

Thanks I think I have decided on the garrett:notworthy:

Thanks you just saved me hours of frustration :)

I don't know if you bought already, but if not, why limit yourself to a low end of the line detector. There are plenty of high end of the line older detectors for sale. Some are easy to use starting with preset programs and later you can use there advanced features. By the way, the DD coil does not pinpoint as well as a concentric. Something that really bothers newcomers. I use a 13 year old top of the line detector and it will find anything another general purpose detector will find. Just my thoughts, Frank...

Well this is my plan, use garrett 350 ace for a few years then move on to at pro. Or I could start off with a at pro second hand but they are very hard to find :(

The cheapest used ATPro I saw a month ago was $450 on Ebay... others had all extra stuff that comes with adventure pack and were asking $490 plus..
Garrett offered me a trade up option of 40 percent for my old Master Hunter CX. 21 years old and they gave me nearly $200 as trade.. THey were going for that on Ebay. except mine was blown up by Garrett service themselves...not sure if this trade up thing continues with todays detectors....BTW its 40 percent of List price, but still a good deal...

You can pick up an XLT For about $300. One just sold in the classified section here. It's an older model but has a modern microprocessor control and an easy to use program format to start you off. Whites, has the best service, but I don't think you will ever need it. Frank...

Sorry I'm new but can you direct me to this part of the forum.
Thankyou

One thing that you will certainly need to make digging faster and finding small objects easier is a good digger and a pinpointer. Less time digging and trying to find the target in the hole= more time finding other targets and treasure.

I have narrowed it down to the garrett ace 350 or fisher f2 with dd coil (Im new to this forum)
Help?
Thankyou

Just a suggestion (Since you seem to be sold on the '350)? Give saltwater_max (He's in the Charter Members Classified section) a call.

I'm pretty sure He'll hook you up. In your price range too though.....I'd get a quote from him on a Fisher F4 8-)

You might want to check this detector out. I just got onr of these and let me tell you....it is great for the money! with DD coil it cost me $299 delivered.

Click on forum at the top, then go all the way down to Charter members classified. You will find a lot of detectors for sale there. Frank...

That's good question. I did not use F2 yet.
Ace 350 is easy to use and have some basic function such as customized mode. And I like the light weight. For a new user is a very good choice.
But I agree with Frankn to aim at a higher end model if you think it is a long term hobby.

Well this is my plan Garrett ace 350 for a short while until I have enough for garrett at pro sell 350 ace then use the at pro (and along the way I may buy a gold detector)
Thanks

A used vaquero could fall in that price range. Plus it might be the best machine you ever use. Might as well buy a new one.

have you considered making your own dd coil.

I would save a while longer and at least go with ATP. You will want to upgrade from Ace within a month if not sooner.
