What is the oddest or weirdest thing you have found while MDing?

At first I thought you asked "oldest" and I was going to take a picture of a rock.

One of the oddest "finds" I can across was a half dozen .45 ACP cases in the basement of a church built in 1904 that was still a continually operated church at the time. They pulled up a section of wood flooring in a side storage room where the electrical service was to replace it with poured concrete and I took a quick search with an old Radio Shack kit detector that I had. Those and iron whatzits and pieces of copper wiring was all I found. Never did figure out who was blasting away or at what.

I found a full upper denture years ago at the beach. I still have it. I told the beach patrol about it, and they said I could bring it to the station if I wanted to, but they already have a full drawer of them there.

Found what I thought was a brass headboard of a bed at the beach. It was laying just under the sand, and detector went off like a rocket. Pulled it out and went up under the street light to find out by scraping it that it was only brass plated.

Dug a parking meter head out of the sand at low tide. Had to wash out the sand to find out if any coins were in it. It was empty. Left it on the sidewalk, didn't figure it was a good idea to take it with me.

My best odd thing so far though, is a silver ring that appears to have 2 figures on it that are "well endowed", for lack of a better description. I think they are referred to as phalic symbols. They are rather primitive in nature, and the ring is fairly small and thin. When I get a camera, I am going to post it here for your opinions. Maybe it is a rare bear, or "bare", as the case may be.

Posted this story elsewhere a few months ago, but will retell it here.

A couple of years ago I was in about a foot of water at the shore of a large lake near here and used my sand scoop to retrieve a target. I missed the target but found a boar's tusk in my sand scoop. The lake is surrounded by housing, no domestic pigs and no wild pigs ever get near the water, so how did the tusk get into the lake? Not as weird as many things already posted here, but I still wonder how that tusk wound up in the lake. Ah, sweet mysteries of treasure hunting!

Hmmm I thought the old 'uppers' I found might have been unique, but I guess not, not from the amount of teeth everyone else has found.. I don't have them anymore, not sure where they went.. They were 'old', with a very thick pallet, I'll bet it was a 1/4" thick composite of some kind. I guess without the modern plastics they have today, they had to be thick just to be use able.. I wondered how the hec anyone could ever get used to that in their mouth.. I found them among some rocks when the tide went out near the Gilbert's Cove Light house in Nova Scotia..I also found a modern metal upper partial in my driveway one day.. Have no Idea who lost it . A fellow I worked with, once found a snowmoble helmet about 15' down, under a dock, but it wasn't empty.. You know? you 'can' blow chunks out of a single hose regulator

I found a metal detector whilst detecting....a Whites 'Tellus'.
The edge of the farm I was detecting had been landfilled at some time which meant a layer of rubbish on a field that had produced Roman coins.
I detected the coil first that had part of the stem still attached. Following the wire back I dug out the rest of the machine. I poured water out of the control box yet when dried out, with a new battery, it worked !
Its now part of my old detectors collection. If anyone knows the date they were produced I would be grateful.

A tooth on the beach, must have gotten knocked out during a volleyball game or something, the metal they used for the cavity set off the detector. Also, how about an 1862 yellow fever epidemic grave yard. The owner of the land "knew it was out there somewhere" and a bud and I were asked to find it. Seems that the owner didn't want to go plowing into it. We got the little survey flags and every time we popped a square nail up we stuck in a flag. Not long till they started forming rectangles.....BOO!
