Since I moved back here from the East Coast, where the chances of finding colonial coppers and Drapped Bust coins and similarly early American coins were relatively higher. Many of them are on my bucket list...ok ALL of them are. So far I have only found a 1918S Buffalo as my oldest coin in Washington. I'm looking for validation that there are older coins out here. So what have you all found?

Several Indian cents, barber dimes and quarters, chinese coins from the 1700's but no busts or coppers. However, early gold coins are a possibility.

getting closer: dug a 1910S Wheatie today...

Ok! I'm breathing a sigh of awesomeness! Finally broke the 1900 barrier today: 1875 IHP!!! First IHP and Oldest coin!!

Nice work. Stay with it and more will appear.

1973 Canadian penny :crybaby2:

Bronze, you need to get out more....I get older coins out of my couch cushions :occasion14:

1876 barber quarter is my oldest so far

1895 Barber quarter and a 1900 three pence.

My Oldest Find

1792 Russian 5 Kopec, found on Duwamish head.

As soon as I can photograph it - I will post the tale.

It is possible that I have found one older but its condition currently defies identification, other than it is silver and OLD Spanish.

But, I have seen two coins older than mine found with a metal detector, both 18th century Spanish silver from the north-eastern part of the state.
