What is this for a machine?

Hi,
Years ago i bought this machine on a second hand Market in Holland. Not knowing what it was i was curious to find out but never track down what it realy was so it ends up in the attic.
Das someone knows what this is?
The round discs are made of stone!

Hello! That is an old, hand-turned, knife sharpening device. It can barely be read (in German) on the base plate (Messerschärfmaschine). Item was patented in early 1900s and was made through at least 1920. The company made many types of machines/items...see this link. Certainly cool and would look great on display...definitely would have caught my eye!

Definitely a knife sharpener.

My deceased aunt had one similar to that.

many thanks for the answers.. i had now the possibility to search Google with the keywords mention above and found out that this machine called a PIPIFAX!
