What is this "Hook" piece?

Please take a look at this hook shaped object in the picture with the other relics. Anyways, it isn't a bent bayonet...found it on the top of a Confederate redoubt.

Re: What is this "Hook" piece?

Does anyone have any idea of what it might be?

The "boomerang" object on the left?

Tree root?

Clean it up a tad. Soak it in motor or oilve oil and use a stiff brush to clean it up a bit. It could be anything from a tractor dragged landscaping rake tine to a windjammer belaying pin.

What's it made of? Can we see some closeups?

I'm 'cooking' it right now....I did notice that it had holes, look like screw holes, on the side....It couldnt be a farming tool, or at least not likely, because it was found about 25 feet up a wall of dirt on top of a big round Confederate artillery redoubt....this area is full of ravines and hills.....hardly any flat area at all that would be suited for farming.....I am assuming that it was used by the Confederate army....maybe something that went or was used for the cannons or just as likely, the horse teams that pulled them.

Interesting collection.

Considering the size, I wonder if it could be part of the carriage for a field piece. Could very well be something which was hit by cannon fire and ended up with that bend. Here is a picture from Bloody Lane at Antietam with a simmilar looking object in the right lower side of the picture.

Treasure Tales,

Good call, especially with the two "screw holes" still in the artifact.
