🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Shape like a utensil handle but has a flap

Found this nonmetallic object with an ornate design. Looks like a spoon or fork handle but has a flap piece that fits into the end. The other end does appear to be broken.

The way the metal is separating your piece appears to be made of pot metal, although my first thought was pewter. I've not seen anything like that 'flap' on top of the handle though, obviously made for a special purpose... it's not likely to be a bottle opener.

Thanks Sanddog. That could be a possibility. Without having the rest of the handle that's missing it might be hard to know for sure.
