Yes says puritan lady painted from life fob boston January "54"
Says buell on front. Maybe al buell?

I am no expert, but the signature does not look close to any of the Buell signatures or that era.

Based on the lack of oxidation of the canvas on the back, I would guess this is a copy made in 1954 of an earlier painting. It's definitely not painted during the era of the puritans.
