What is this????

Hi we found this at a new place we went to for a few minutes...gonna go back when we get more time, but we dont know what it is...I think it is made out of lead and that is because of its weight. at first we thought a fishing weight but it appears to have some marking on the front and is flat on the back......if it is a fishing weight why the odd shape

it looks like a very old fishing weight to me. hand made. maybe 1700s but that is a guess. someone else on the forum recently found a similar one. very interesting find. did you find it near a body of water?

Probably a hammered fishing weight, drilled off center to give it movement, a "swimming" motion maybe?
