what is this?

Haven't seen anything that looks like this so I thought I'd check in with the people that might know something about this.
All I can tell you is it's probably from the Sierra Nevadas but am attempting to verify.

It's not magnetic. Weight is @ 2 lbs.

That is a brecciated jasperoid, perhaps associated with low-grade cinnabar.

(If you find out that its origin is anywhere other than California or Nevada, let me know... that would open the door to a few other possibilities/probabilities!)
