Looks like an iron piece. Is it metal? If I see that in the field there's no way I don't bring it home.

Looks like it has writing on in in white ink?

I don't have a clue but am interested to see what it is. Reminds me of the mines they would set in the water for ships ..... Except 500 times smaller.

HAS IT BEEN CAST IN A MOLD, OR IS A ROCK BEEN WORK BY HAND?

EXCEPT FOR THE MIDDLE TIT USUALL IT WOULD HAVE A ROUGH
HOLE IN IN TO BE DRILLED AND TAPPED.

How do you know that it is man made pottery from Pennsylvania?

Found this today. Not sure if it's any help but I don't think its pottery. I was thinking pestle. Mine has a worn cupped area on it as well.

You know who made it, what it is made of and then you say a friend of yours found it???

Not sure what you want to know but if I was you I would ask the maker what it was.
