What is this?

Hey,

Found this in the woods in Northern Virginia near the Potomac River. There's was tons of corrosion on it and this is what I'm left with after some cleaning. Somewhat heavy for its size. Any guidance is appreciated.

Maybe the broken end to a small hatchet? Corroded iron is difficult to ID.
