What is this???

I found this today at a thrift store and got it just because it was neat as only $2. I have no clue what it is but it’s made out of copper. I put a quarter beside it for size comparison. If anyone has any information that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

It looks like those off of a Civil War era foot soldier's sword, but I am not 100 % certain on that.
