Looks as if it might be a drawer pull/knob.

I concur, looks like a pull for a drawer...bet there's a screw under all that crude. It's look awful familiar to me...like something I saw on one of my grandmother's furniture pieces.

Looks like an old door nob, one of the glass ones with the glass part broke off. I've seen some older door nobs that the inside looked like that.

It's a measureing tape, and that thing next to it is a draw pull from sometime around the 1930s.
