It is the frame from a heavy, ocean-going shaving mirror. The mirror, backer plate and “3rd leg” (rear positionable leg) are missing. They were heavy, because they ride better (fell over less) in a rough ocean. Very nice find. Quite unusual to most land lubbers and scallywags. Please don’t include Oak Island in the story of the find. It’s like saying my aunt gave birth on D-Day. It really isn’t relevant. Oak Island is an amusement park for a few guys and a TV audience IMO. Thanks for posting. And I’m kidding, to an extent.

Thank you for the ID and Oak Island advice. Any guesses as to how old it might be?

I believe it is a weight for duck decoys. I have found some very similar.
