What is the current value of a silver quarter??

If we assume silver prices are about $15 per ounce right now,
well then I guess I would need the exact weight of a silver quarter.
Anybody know?
Same question for a dime.

Also: 1965 to '70 what is that value?
I heard that '65 to '70 quarters have 40% silver (?), so what is their value
at current prices?

If you know the weight of these coins in ounces and their % silver,
I can do the math, but I figure someone has already calculated all that.
Thanks in advance.

Here is a cool link that will give you melt value for U.S. coins, it updates daily with the silver spot price.

Also, quarters were 90% silver through 1964. After that, no silver
Dimes, same.
Kennedy Halves were 90% through 64, then from 65-69, they were 40%
Nickles were 42-45, but only the ones with the big mint mark on the back.

At present, a Washington quarter is $2.77 in melt value. Silver at $15.30 an ounce.

Hope that helps

Thanks, Veg,
That is VERY Helpful.

Now with a little more math, I figure at the rate I'm finding coins, I will
pay for my detector by the year 2525, and I will be a millionaire by the year 3744!

Uncle Vinny,

The going rate as of friday Jan 4,08
was 7x face
If the coin was verry good condition wise
8x face
