I found this bullet at a park today. Dates back to the 20's. This bullet hit something, there is traces of small indents at the bottom. I included a picture of one that looks like what it might have been, but I don't know what that picture is of either.

It looks very much like a .22, but without caliper measurements, it is kinda hard to tell.

I can see where it was crimped but don't see any crimping grooves so it would probably be a outside lubed bullet such as a .22 or a .22 magnum. The way the nose is deformed would make it appear to be a hollow point, but that's a guess mostly. Could be deformed from hitting a rock or something hard? Monty

Any idea on an age? Since it doesn't have a casing, I'd assume it has to be fairly old like older then the 60's.

Sure it had a casing, notice the crimp marks around the base. It appears to be outside lubed meaning the wax or lube was on the outside of the case. The base of the bullet is usually smaller than the outside diameter but it expands on leaving the case and going down the barrel. Give us some measurements and better photos and one of us probably can ID it. It looks like it might be bigger than a .223 diameter, but I can't tell. Right now I am just going on what I can see and making an educatd guess. Monty

Here is a bunch of different measurements. Its as heavy as a piece of lead.

It looks a lot like my 38-40 bullets so I would say that it was probably earlier then the 1960's
