It's marked wsss at the bottom and 43

It might be a part of this dresser set --

2 PCS Antique W S S Wilhelm Schiller SON Brown Tray Dresser SET Trinket BOX | eBay

This is a very nice and rare antique set in a matte brown glaze particular to this maker. It is a dresser tray and box with lid. They are made by Wilhelm Schiller & Son and marked WS & S. These pieces have a very unusual rope trim that gives them almost a western feel. They are both numbered as well. They are both in very good condition but there is some wear from age and use. There is a glaze chip on the rim of the tray please see photos. The box has a face in the center of the intricate design. The tray measures 12 1/8 inches long and 6 5/8 wide. The box is 5 inches long.

wow, if it isn't from the company Bramblefind referenced I'll be flabbergasted. How did you do that? definitely part of that company, but what was it originally for? I would say anything from an evening cookie tray ;-) to something to put your cuff links on.

I think ya gotta kick it up a notch...a picture is helpful to give credance to a theory. If its a simple guess it is helpful to claim it as such.as your guess is hours later than the previous post I assume you looked into it and disagreed...cool...show us why.
simple advice from a simple yeti....:occasion14:
