This piece does not look like majolica... the colors are too muted, and it looks like it is made of a white clay such as porcelain or a whiteware. I can see some flashing (flame and ash marks) on both the rim and foot of the object that indicate it was fired in a kiln with an atmosphere that was not gas. It looks like it is a piece of salt fired ware, or wood fired ware and looks to be old. I would say that if this object were found in a southern state that it's a good bet it is a nice example of later(1800's) pottery. It could also be from an Ohio/ New England pottery from the north east area... either way it's a nice pot and shows some good craftsmanship...How big is it, and what's the diameter
