While cleaning out my digging mobile, that my wife totaled in an accident this week, I found this little pendant thingamabobber that I remember digging up some time ago. I believe I found this at a late 1800's site. I remember when I first found it that it looked like it had dirt stuck to it and was just a flat piece of metal. The sun hit it a certain way as I was looking at it yesterday pendant.webpand lo and behold it is covered in very strange symbols/writing. I have zero clue what this is and the symbols/writing are way cool. Can any of you help me identify this item or the language or symbols? It is about the size of a half dollar. Thanks in advance.

I think it looks like gibberish, but I imagine that it could some kind of hieroglyphs.

I agree with Dakota. the image within the coin appears to be a 'tughra'; first used by the Ottoman Empire in the 1300s.
The tughra came in many forms; here's one:
