My first guess may be incorrect because looking at the photos closer I still can't tell what it made of, it appears to be either metal or leather, I guess it would help if you confirm what it's made of?

It is an iron ring with metal (iron) wire "spokes"

Personally, I think the technical term for this piece is a whatchamacallit. :toothy4:

Found plenty of these near or on the Lano and Medina. back side of a torpedo fish trap, the heavy ones that used to get throw out in the fast waters.

Interesting idea! I dug this in Central Texas nowhere near any rivers of any size, which makes that idea even more intriguing. I will check out torpedo fish traps to see what I can find.

Obviously you were in the middle of nowhere now, but some time or another it was someplace to somebody that was packing a fish trap between the rivers. I know you think I know what I'm talking about, but the truth is I know I don't know what I'm talking about. With any kind of luck, you could about $5 with my idea and get a rather fancy coffee at Starbucks.

Uh-huh -- It all sounds perfectly logical to me!:occasion14:

I never saw a metal dream catcher.

I just want to say... that "Dream Catcher" sure has a lot of holes in it!

I was thinking about getting one since my Ekeko is quite lazy and unproductive (or has developed a debilitating cancer)?
But with all those holes, I think I'm just going to play tonight's Powerball instead!

Is it possible it could be the vent ring in the top of a Sibley tent ???

Just an idea but maybe some cowboys stretching fence took a cinch ring off a saddle wrapped it for grip and used it that way.Just to get a better pull on the wire???
