Gold Cufflink?

I'm not used to finding jewelry at the old sites I hunt. Is this a broken cufflink or something else? It's pretty small. No stamp. Feels like solid gold. Some deeper scratches don't show any sign it's plated, but I'm not good at telling. The engraving looks older.
