Found late 1800’s to early 1900’s farming site, may have had a store or shop, curious what this is and used for. Heavy for size

Neat find, I found something similar and by my research it turns out to be a blacksmiths cut off hammer. I did so work to it and restored the item.

Looks like a blacksmith's hot chisel.

Thanks all, I thought it was a log splitter as well , but after searching I pretty sure you are right with the blacksmith hammer. It an interesting find , thank all.
