What VDI reading to you get from a gold coin

Seeing that I have never found a gold coin as of yet, I thought I would try to get some info that will help me. Being poor I can't afford to buy any gold so I thought I would ask those of you that have them hidden away. Can anyone tell me what VDI reading they get from a 21/2, 5, & 20$ gold coin. I have a MXT.

No help with your MXT, but here are my readings that may help you with realtive readings.

On my F-75 the readings on gold coins are:

65 $10.00
58 $5.00
52 $2.50
28 $1.00

By way of comparison I get the following readings on modern clad.

89 to 86 Half
85 to 79 Quarter
73 Canadian 1¢
71 Dime
70 Pre '82 cent
63 to 58 Post '82 cent (these dissolve in our soil and it throws the VDI and confidence meter readings off).

Thanks Charlie, that helps & the readings are not that far off. On the MXT a 1/2 will read 85+ quarter 85, dime 80, penny 68-78 & a nickel 20.
