What's your oldest coin?

I thought this would be a cool idea for a thread. Anyways, what is your oldest coin. Also, your coin does not need to be American, it can be foreign or colonial.

My oldest coin a worn, and dateless, 1655-1658 Louis XIV French Liard.

Note: the coin farthest to the bottom of the photo, that is not corroded is not my coin, but a reference of how a non-dug example of that coin looks.

Wow, that's very rare coin. For me, coins with a mintage under 2 million are scarce. My rarest coin is an 1861 New Brunswick Half Cent, with only 5,000 known to exist. The problem is, it was found in such bad condition, that part of the edge of the coin crumbled off, and I decided to super glue it back on, don't ask me what I was thinking lol.

A young head King George II 1/2 penny ( Colonial ) minted 1729-1739. Unfortunately mine doesn't still have it's date.


Apparently I have a magnetism for English things as my oldest silver is an 1816 English Shilling and my second oldest coin is the old head version of a KG II 1/2 penny. Oh, btw...my sweetie, she's English too lol! I guess I shouldn't have mentioned her in my " old " finds though, huh?

I did not find it; but a detectorist from England posted his find years ago on another MD site and I posted that if I had found something that old I'd be in the clouds for years and how lucky he was to live where there was so much history. No one else posted on his thread. We struck up a private topic and he sent me the coin!

Wow, nice 1694 copper. The first coin looks to be Roman, I do not which ruler
it is, but maybe someone will help. It could be anywhere from around 100 ad to around 400 ad, but knowing the ruler will narrow it down a lot

Well damn, I guess i'll join in on this. I've found several of these guys over the years.Most look like this one, and I do have one that appears to have a harp on the back. Anyways, this is the only one that I can actually see somewhat of a date on. It appears to be 1722 or 1729. Hell, all I know is I can def see 172 for sure!

Wow, haven't you heard of the Roman settlement of Kansas lol.
On a more serious note, it looks like it was used as jewelry (it's holed, which means it was maybe a charm or pendant), which means it was probably lost WAY after it was minted, it was turned into a charm and someone lost it. Anyways, really cool find.

My thoughts as well coinman. But it is proof that even the very old stuff can be found just about anywhere.
