What's a good camera for close up shots?

For things like bugs and flowers, yes, you need a good camera with close-up capacity.

For things like coins, which seems to be common on a treasure forum, a cheap HP scanner will do better than you need. Those doing serious old photo work should already have one.

Of course, I say HP only because that is what I have always used.

The best point and shoot cameras for close up are Sony Cybershots... but not just any sony cypershot.. some of them have a "double macro" mode. Usually the models with internal lenses have this mode (T-series). They are best macro cameras without going up to a DSLR w/macro lens. The Pentax W90 (waterproof) has a decent macro function, but whats really nice about the W90 is that it has a circle of LED lights around the lens. This lights the images with really nice quality of light (its hard to light your subject sometimes when your lens is very close to your subject).
