Whats good way to clean coins?

Lots of ways.. in fact there is an entire forum for cleaning.. it's about half way down the main page, here is a link.

Doing metal detecting finding a lot of modern but stained coins, got $5 worth today, how to clean?

I suppose that depends on what you are doing with them. The clad I find ends up going to Coinstar after a basic rinse and my container fills up. It accepts most of them, unless the sides have started to corrode away. For the coins I am keeping, I usually do an acetone dip or olive oil soak, unless is happens to be a valuable date, which has not happened for me yet. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Here's to hoping you cross that bridge soon!

Thanks, I like the vote of encouragement! Although the mounds of snow and frozen ground here in Michigan will likely dictate how soon the hunt can begin.

For clad, I use a tumbler with vinegar and salt. Cleans my clad up great.

SH suggestion is a good one and I might add, when tumbling, separate the pennies from the other clad as they will turn your other coins copper color! A twin tub tumbler from Harbor Freight is about 50.00!
HH!
