What's in your basement... circa 1904 homestead

Had the opportunity to be the "first" to detect the dirt basements of two circa 1910 homesteads which have been recently been removed from their foundations (pics enclosed).

Can't believe a nice tone signal (quarter) at 5" depth behind the basement stairwell turned out to be a 72' clad Washington.
Also turned up a wooden knickel and a brass pendant that will require extensive cleaning.

I did get silver in the form a silver plated fork but easily would have preferred a Standing Liberty like the one I pulled out only 100 yards from here two months ago.

This dig site isn't too bad if you can get past the urine soaked landscape and the occasional smell of human excrement. These structures when vacant use to house the finest residents society has to offer. It's evident in the number of condoms and used needles found dispersed at the site. Dig with caution!!! I hope I don't find anyone's left behind drug cache! I accept cash only. Preferrably in silver and gold denominations.

Enjoy the pictures..

Basement floors are tough.....I've done about a dozen from the 1700's to early 1900's and only pulled one old coin, an 1873 IH. :)

Hopefully next time you'll get a little silver in the mix... ;)

I think the dirt floors were pounded so hard ,nothing sinks and the society folks that moved in have a knack for finding loose change.Ill take the houses though, they would make a great cottage after we hose em down.Watch the needles brother, change isnt worth dying over, even old change ;)
