Try soaking it in olive oil for a few weeks. Then use a soft tooth brush, and try to get some of the scale off.

I'm not sure I'd try cleaning it any more... that thin top layer on the obverse contains the only detail. If that comes off, you're left with a blank disc.

I would say either a KG or maybe a canadian large cent.

Yeah i think thats is as far as im going to go with cleaning it. The king george profile does seem to look close to what is left of this coin so im going to go with that. Guess i'll never know for sure but thats ok. Im just happy that there are still a few nice finds left in this field i've been hunting for the last 2 years.
