It sure looks does like one... or, depending on it's actual size, the bottom of an umbrella or parasol.

Hm..I would have to agree with Wasabi. It surely does look like the tip of an elaborate walking stick/cane.

I was gonna say the same thing. I have also seen very similar pieces at the top of flag poles. If it were mine I would make a vintage looking walking stick with it.

But... I've been looking at walking sticks for a while, and maybe thats not it.

Most, even antiques, have a much more solid base to attach to the stick... your item only sets with two set screws? What kind of punishment would that take after a few walks?

Just saying... might be too flimsy a set up.
