Hi all!
I just started coin shooting again after a long absence and I know it's not much, but after finding several clad coins in the neighborhood, I dug a 1937D Wheat penny in really good shape in my front yard at 4 inches. I found it using a whites 6000Di Pro that I bought at a thrift store for five dollars.

Keep at it. Where there are wheats there is usually also some silver. I used a 6000 di years ago when I was just getting into the hobby. I always liked that machine.

Great buy on the 6000 and great find. Usually where there is wheat pennies there is silver! So keep hitting the site and learn that machine!

Welcome back to the hobby.
Looking forward to seeing posts of all your finds.
Oh yeah,, we like pictures

This is for Bronco2, If you listen carefully to the tones that machine produces when swinging, you will soon recognize the right ones to dig. Also keep track of where the needle number it locks onto. The higher the number the larger the object it located. Now here is another advise ,for months in using it I skipped the number 60 since wheats always hit at least 70.but the zinc will read at 60 also shallower. A great machine at a terrific price there,

Evolution, I really liked my 6000 DI-PRO,picked that one up in late 1978 .And it was a silver hog. Is[ll use my XLT and minelab se when I can get out. I'm 83 now and hunting times are much shorter.

Bronco2 , I always enjoy finding wheaties , and as mentioned they are an "index" find for silvers . What part of Montana are you
in ? The detector was a great find ! I got started with a 1980's model 5900 Di Pro.

499 more pennies ( Wheats or Memorials ) & you already paid for your detector. That was a great deal & congrats on your wheat.

Congratulations on the wheat cent recovery! The older machines can still find the goodies and they are "built like a tank".

Thanks, everyone for the kind words of encouragement and advice!
Argentium, I live in north central Montana 80 miles from Glacier National Park. A 5900 Di Pro was the first detector I ever owned.
