image.webpso I see people talking about these on here are they special or somthing should I start keeping them ? I just got this in some change last week but I have tossed them metal detecting

You "toss" coins you find metal detecting? Interesting.

Google is your friend.

If it’s new or Common yea. I could care less about a modern penny or somthing by Toss I mean either throw it in my coin jar or just end up spending it somwerrr just not holding on to it. Although yea I have tossed them into thickets lol

Unless they're cut or destroyed somehow, wheat cents are worth more than 1 cent. Common ones are worth only about 2 cents, but depending on year, mint mark, and condition, others can be worth thousands. Look them up before you just toss them in the change jar or spend them.

If you are over 50 like me, they’re purely nostalgic.

You might find a 1909 s vdb

That's a coin dated 1909 and has a "S" mint mark and the initials of the designer, "VDB".

There are some valuable wheat cents most are not but I keep the ones I find. Gotta get a coin book if your in this Hobby hate to see you toss something out when you dont know anything about it

so you don't have a chance of finding the 1999-P Wide AM or the 1984 double ear (sold for $100). both worth hundreds in XF or better condition. my 2ND '99 WAM may sell for $200+, 1ST sold for $115. sorry for your loss:tongue3:--- now go buy a REDBOOK :laughing9:

YOU DON'T NEED A RED BOOK! YOU ARE ON THE INTERNET! GOOGLE IT! wtf folks....

Really? How many coins have you sold for red book stated value? Fact is there are more accurate values for coins online than in the red book. Just ask a coin dealer!

Keep 'em, you're never gonna lose any money on 'em.

Wheaties to me are in the better than nothing category, and a possible omen of silver coins to come

Red book values are a little high but it really is a great resource
