All Treasure Hunting
Went out to a spot today that I drive past nearly everyday. Back in 09 a few houses were removed and they are now part of a larger park they were previously on. Essentially, home sites are now part of the park! Did a little research and all of the sites had houses on them in approx. 1915. I was VERY happy there seemed to be hardly any trash (especially for a park!), and the targets I found were only 2-3 inches deep so I am confident my detector was the first on the scene. I still haven't turned up any silver with this xTerra... I might move on soon. I am having a TON of trouble with false 44-48 signals. They repeat, repeat, repeat, I zone in on them, pop the plug, and then the signal vanishes. It seems to happen even more over old smashed up concrete type material.

Any tips for Silver and the xTerra would be GREATLY appreciated.

The wheats are 1940 something and a 1920 (First target dug!)

This is my first button of any significance. After a little research The Twin City Lines operated from 1875 - 1954. The back says Superior Quality and has the same shank as many of the older war buttons. I was pumped :)

This last one I need some help...
I first popped it out... seen its size... and then I seen a face and I went OOOOOOO!!!! After a little cleaning I am just confused. There is a face on both sides and it is SLIGHTLY thinner than a quarter. There is a hole punched which leads me to believe it was a necklace or medallion, or turned into one. Anyone recognize these heads? About the size of a Half Dollar

Zero modern change! 2 old wheats and an old button. There has to be silver there, right?! I may need to call in a local reinforcement to help me haha. Anyone in the Minneapolis area curious to come to this site with me whom has a top o the line detector... message me! Come find the silver and show me how.

Generous invite, but I would suggest you can find the silver yourself at that site with no help. Just spend more time gridding.

Nice finds. More will be found at that location. Great work.

..: NICE ASSORTMENT of FINDS KookieMonsta :..
Thanks for sharing!

The first side looks about like U.S. Grant? Nice finds!

Iowa Dale

I agree with CRU, you just have to swing over it to find it and gridding is the best way to do it. good luck on that. pretty cool finds too

OMG! TYTYTYTYTY!!!! How in the world?!!?

Side Note: I took my buddy back with me to the spot yesterday (teaching him to detect). I found two pieces of "Uncle Sam Play Money" which are aluminum coins dating to 1950 and my Buddy found a button with 5 stars and a wreath underneath. It seemed to date to the 40s. We are finding plenty of the right time period, but just not the silver yet haha. My invitation remains open to anyone here in the minneapolis area!

Oh my! I did a little more research and it turns out Bramblefind also solved this one back in 2014 here on Treasurenet for a different user.
Check out the photo! I am definitely going back now to try and find the rest of the medallion, haha!

Congratualtions on the nice finds! :occasion14:

What coil are you using on the 705?

9 Inch Concentric 7.5khz
It is just the one I got with the detector. Any recommendations you have would be AMAZING! I mainly hunt city yards/parks which are quite dirty and I look for smaller targets. I also hunt from time to time in the clean farm fields up north on all metal. I'm not sure which coil would be the best for each scenario.. I would assume a different one for each scenario.

I use the 10" x 5" elliptical DD 18.75 KHz coil when in trashy parks and play areas...looking for lost jewelry. If I am at a place where deep silver lives (farm fields...etc), I use the 9" concentric 3 KHz coil.

IMHO:

Now beware...there is no magic coil each of the above mentioned has its Pro's and Con's. The 18.75 KHz loves small jewelry, separates well and requires care while pin pointing, but also loves small foil and other junk and will find it fairly deep. The 3 KHz is deeper and discriminates well and pin points very well, but loves deep iron and being a concentric coil separation could be a problem in very trashy areas. All three coils are excellent when used in the proper location and condition. Remember these are just tools to help you find the "goodies"...time with your machine and understanding the settings are of utmost priority for maximum success.
