When a treasure discovery goes terribly wrong

Greedy TT wanted it all.

A very thought provoking article.

What killed what should of been one of most wonderful discoveries in history was the jealousy and greed. I have no doubt TT had good intentions at the start. But with the endless litigation from claimants such as insurance companies some of which do not even have any proof they paid out on the shipwreck. Investors with over inflated expectations unaware of financial obligations of recovery and cost of endless litigation and themselves infighting. Its not hard to see TT why deciding to think to hell with them all.

However for what should of been a wonderful win for everyone involved became killed by greed.

A lesson for anyone considering such projects.

contingency fees by attorneys are the fuel that keeps this fire burning
a change to the rules, the claimant who loses has to pay the amount they sought from the defendant
(give the attys joint and several liability with the plaintiff)

TT could be an Ayn Rand character

Hello BillA

Unfortunately there is no easy solution to greed.

In this cas it would be impossible. But if one finds a treasure my suggestion don’t ever tell anyone unless you can make the treasure untouchable by anyone.

Yea find it then rehide it even untill you can decide whats best to do with it and of course dont tell anyone thats just stupid.

I take all this with skepticism, news seems to be sensationalized to attract and retain readers.

Nobody is interested in reading about a relatively stable every day guy.

There is plenty of greed and likely telling of half truths to go around.

Yea because they need viewers to make money and untill they take the money out of the news there is hardly any point watching it.
