1476141_433089463479799_894207483_n.webp I started tagging along when I was about 7. this 1976 photo as you can tell by my Dad's 70's mustache. cool thing was, even I was involved in the coin flip at the end of the digs. Denver jugs

Same here Coloradocav1. Started in 1975 and have been digging on and off since. Is the photo the result of one dig? Those jugs are awesome man.

Yes, I remember like it was yesterday. It was a two holer privy in Denver that was just loaded!

I remember getting in trouble with the big guy in the pic, I kept throwing dirt clods in his plumber's crack while he was in the hole digging!

I really stared seriously in around 1971 , 72 .before I wood go hiking in the woods , and once in a will I wood pick up a cool looking bottle I'd see laying on the ground , and usually give it away! then one day wile I was behind my parents house I literally kicked up a Werner's tippy canoe , and that was it . the rest is history.

Dang !!! Those jugs are super ! You sure had a cool family !

As I sit here in the frozen tundra known as Denver, I'd love to here more! Were, or are you a member of the local bottle club?
I've managed only two local jugs, and not being able to dig much this year, any Denver stories or memories would be greatly appreciated!

(By the way, the man on the left, Marty H.?)

Wow !! We once dug a privy that had 13 jugs but only 4 were stenciled. I started around 74 ,75 , found a small dump up behind Central City. Congrats on that fantastic old dig !! Carl ,I wondered if that was Marty also.

That's Marty for sure! you know him. My Dad of course

I started bottle hunting in 1977, Tampa Florida. Hunted on and off since. Had to take some of that time off while in the military and then came a family that needed my attention. No regrets.

Man, do you have any more photos?
Marty has some crazy bottle stories, love hearing them!

That picture with the jugs is just incredible, coloradocav1, what an awesome story!

Well, I guess I was that youngest vote on that "How old are you?" poll. I'm 25, I only started digging seriously in December 2014. Before that I was (still am) very interested in arborglyphs (tree carvings) and had hiked around a lot in search of old inscriptions made on American beech trees. I've found carvings almost 125 years old. Anyway, in that span of about 4 years I had come across different dumps and interesting places, and had even curiously picked a few bottles off the ground for my shelf, not realizing that this was to become my next love. I've had so much joy in my life since I discovered digging.

1971 , I was 12 yrs old. I would walk the local creeks brook trout fishing, and go home with a creel full of old bottles ! I can remember my father saying " you know brookies taste a lot better then those ole bottles " lol. Late 1800s and early 1900s the farmers would load their wagons with trash [bottles] and dump in ravines and creek banks--, I had a great time.

I'm sure I could find some pics somewhere. I'll look

Thats a cool start! I can relate, I have a few fishing spots that have dumps like that, you have to carry your rod and shovel!

Thats cool! The only arborglyphs i've seen in Colorado while hunting, are the aspen trees the talented sheep herders carved naked dames. Some of those sheep herders make me nervous.

Denver's Berkley Lake was drained a few years ago and, while metal detecting, I happened on a local Denver Whiskey Bottle from 1892...the rest is history. And hey, welcome to Treasure Net. Glad to see you on here and looking forward to your future postings.
