I know you said similar, so this info is for future analysis. This button had no iron back as I had a partial ring shank I busted off by accident. Visible in this photo. Thanks! Oh and found in Kentucky site colonial through 1940.

Holy crap! Same town no piper just a bush and no moon. That is amazing

Good ID by Bramblefind.

I think you had an 'applied' piper which has come off, you have the perfect space for it with no design.

I'm waiting to hear how he did it. Especially in 9 minutes I think it was. (Forgot to check) amazing ID

Thanks! But it is only sort of amazing really. I looked in a book I have called "The Complete Button Book" - it is actually not that "complete" and just has a sampling of button types but as I flipped the pages I saw what I thought to be a match pictured (attached).

The description reads: "9.... (Lower) Stamped brass, one and two piece, also in molded glass. View of Hamelin Town."

Then I went to google and found that nice picture of the one I posted.

Also - I am a she not a he :)

Thanks again bramblefind!

The photos in you book make me think that there must of been several Hamelin scenes with and without the piper. Quite cool and still amazing SHE found the location and so quickly. :)

Forgot to add, its technically not a 'dandy' button. (nearly 200 years older)

It looks like there is a piper looking the opposite way on the left. Kind of croutching and holding the instument in his hands. Or am I just seeing things?

I thought the term was for any button that wasn't meant for function. Good to know.

In British terms its a button dating from 1750-1780
