Thanks for the advice. I will definitely try the grocery store "banks" next time I go there.
As for the casinos, I am not sure the ones around here use real coins, maybe tokens. I don't play the slots normally, but the last time I went the slots wanted paper money. I don't play the slots, since I can't ever figure out why I won or lost on the new "20x", "10 lines at once" ones. I need the one with 3 reels and cherries and oranges, lol.
Anyway, I did have a happy ending. I called a new bank in the area, a small branch of BOA next to a shopping center, thinking they may get some from the local stores. A guy named Erik answered, and said he was a coin collector himself, and always kept a supply of halves on hand. When I told him it was for the kids, he mentioned he also had a bunch of $2 bills. I went in and got a 20 rolls of Kennedys, and 20, $2s. We went through the halves, and had fun nearly filling the 1970 and 1990s in the books. Also found a Sac dollar and a quarter in the rolls, so came out 25 cents ahead. There were NO pre 1971 coins, so these 10 rolls had been mined for silver. But, we had a strange find, a 1986 S Kenedy half. The "S" mints are all proofs, and it DID have the mirror finish, but was a bit scuffed up. Wonder how that found it's way out of the plastic case?
