Where to hunt in the Abilene area

Hubby and I both have MDs now and are looking for some good places to hunt. Any suggestions?

I live in Abilene...an Air Force transplant. I usually go to school yards and city parks. If you have access to the base, the housing area has potential. Also if you have friends that own older homes, their yards might be holding nice finds.

I'm not sure if its still there but years ago when I lived down there , there was a old ghost town not far from abilene. I also detected the lakes and rivers and the small towns in the area back then. I haven't been in abilene in years so I know alot has probably changed since I was there.

I almost forgot to tell you to check the woods if they are still there. I made some nice finds in the woods . I can't remember the name of the street but I remember there was a good size stretch of woods across the street from the cemetary back when I was there and I made some good finds in those woods . I make it a practice to detect woods because thats where I find most of my oldest coins.
