Which coil should I go for?

Back with another question :help:

I mainly hunt for WW1 relics and have been doing so with just the standard 9x8 coil shipped w/ my Vaquero unit. In most of the trenches and foxholes i've been, there is barely any sign left that there used to be a trench there, and more so to the untrained eye. After over 90 years as you can imagine, they are so filled up compared to "fresher looking" ww2 trenches, that if you stand in one, you will only be at knee cap depth relative to the ground outside the trench. I've still found plenty of goodies, but i'm just convinced there is so much more beneath. From tesoro's selection of optional coils, what do you recommend for better depth; not necessarily better target separation, or for very small objects or for more sweep coverage; just more plain DEPTH? If it also makes a difference, most of my trench detecting has by coincidence been in more mineralized, clay like yellow soil than dark soil for some reason. So assuming the probability is higher to run into it again, what deeper seeking coil would also be able to handle and see through this better?

Thank you and happy holidays once again!

For the Vaquero a 12 X 10" Wide scan coil would handle the depth and minerals better. You can get all this from Tesoro's web site. http://www.tesoro.com/ :read2:

All the manufacturers install the most versatile coil as the stock coil knowing many would require different coils for special uses.

Thank you Sandman, would the 12x10 still be able to retain its edge on depth when hunting dark non mineralized soil, or will it lose performance?

I suspect you need low frequency detector like xp g,maxx,o other or explorer with stock coil you can get amazing deepness and a bit more with pro, big metal peaces you can dig from70cm , for metal detector with discrimination is max, or use puls md. good luck in not founding bomb. Stasys

The 12X10 will do great in non mineralized soil and cover a lot of ground at depth while a concentric coil's field is narrow at the bottom, the widesan is not so you don't need to overlap as much.
