Detector(s) used
Learned on Bounty Hunter Junior, then Tracker IV, and now using the Fisher F2
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I want a bounty hunter. I already have the junior model as my very first detector. But what do you think which bounty hunter is good? I was thinking the bounty hunter tracker and bounty hunter quick silver. Which bh machines can detect coins gold and silver? Please help!! Oh and which are good for the beach?

All detectors can find silver and gold. All detectors will work on a saltwater beach if you stay on the dry sand, but only the very expensive multi-frequency machines and the pulse induction (PI) machines will work well in the wet salt sand or in the saltwater. I am not familiar with the BH machines, but in general you get what you pay for, and the more expensive models will do more than the cheaper ones. Good luck, and have FUN!!

Okay the bounty tracker iv is 90 dollars, and the quick silver is 93 dollars are they both too inexpensive or are they legible to find coins gold and silver with?

Treasurehunter, do YOURSELF a huge favor and research some top of the line BEGINNER machines. These are just a few:

Okay thank you for the tip but I would really like to stay in the $100 dollar range

The $100.00 range buys you little more than a toy. In this hobby you get what you pay for, and $170-$200.00 is the "Entry fee." best of luck to you!

So that means the tracker iv or quick silver aren't capable of finding silver coins gold jewelry etc?

Sure, if they are at 6" deep or less, AND if all the garbage and false signals don't mask them. Oh, and let's hope your soils are not too mineralized.. Look, you can buy a cheap metal detector and have fun, but you won't get the results you'll get with a QUALITY TOOL.

I use a tracker IV ive done well.with it silver relics ect decent depth just no vdi or display i also have a f4 whites coin master and a original coin master i still go back to my tracker and with the f4 having the 11in dd i swap that over too

So then the tracker four can detect gold silver coins etc? And how good is the depth on it?

It has decent depth i got quarters at 6-8 inches

Buy a Bounty Hunter Tracker IV from Hobby Lobby. Go to Hobby Lobby website and get their 40% coupon and you can buy the Tracker IV for around $75. It is my first detector and it will find stuff. Learn to listen to the tones so you can get the goodies instead of the garbage. I am learning it now and I have had my detector less than a month and I am sure there is much more to learn. Great starter machine in my opinion. :):icon_thumleft:

Sounds good can it so be used as an intermediate machine?

the Tracker IV is just a starter unit, but for less than $80, you cant go wrong. You also asked can it go in water, the answer is not really. The coil can get wet but the control box cannot. You will not find a waterproof MD for less than $100. If you want waterproof, get the Tracker IV and save all of the change that you dig and get a waterproof model later. Waterproof detectors are FAR more expensive than regular detectors.

Okay do that means that bounty hunter quick silver or tracker 4 is better and keep in mind that I have a bounty hunter junior at the time

Hey treasurehunter.....i would suggest going with a used machine of higher quality. Look at these machines, used: Tesoro Compadre, Garrett Ace 250, Fisher F2, and Whites coinmaster. The Tesoro is around $150 new and is the best deal IMO. If you were a littlle closer, I have a like new Coinmaster that i would sale u for 100 bucks.. Just shop around, good luck.

Is a coinmaster a good machine? I want a intermediate machine. And one that has like good depth and can detect gold silver and coins
