Hi folks- I have a older GTI 1500 that still has the original scorcher coil. It has developed enough cracks that I think it's time to up-grade the coil. I was doing some research.. And due to the variety of choices.. I'm basically confused on best coil for it? Seems some say 8.5x11 DD- some say 11x14 DD.. I guess I need to know- what about the 12.5? which is best all around one with good depth? Do any of these these maintain imaging or is imaging not as important as a better non-imaging coil?.. any input as I'm really not well educated on the different coil options for this detector. Thank you!

I use that large imaging coil on my 2500, I like it. Imaging is important, when hunting coins that are shallow (to me, anyhow)..I have been fooled several times by the imaging, because it depends on the angle that the target is presenting itself to the field. A lot of case a dime or a sliver ring has shown up as something too small to be a coin.
I find I can predict what is under my coil better with my AT Pro than the Gti 2500, but thats just me.

I have my GTI 1500 though I only lately use it. It could have been a favorite till the ATP came along. For the 1500 I would go with the smallest imaging coil or a sniper coil and forget the imaging. But if you need to cover larger areas, get the 12"
